Sermon Title: A Living Hope: Guardian of the Soul
Scripture Lesson 1 Peter 2: 19-25
Opening Hymn: Jesus Loves Me #191
Closing Hymn: It Is Well With My Soul #377 V1,3,4
Call To Worship Psalm 23 #754
Words for Thought:
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6 KJV)
“This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step.
He never did one thing wrong, Not once said anything amiss.
They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.”
(1 Peter 2:21-24 Msg)
Prayer:
Gracious and loving Lord, We pray your spirit will touch hearts and transform lives through the hope we find in Jesus. As we come to worship this day remind us of our mission to make Jesus smile, and to make others smile on this journey called life. When Jesus smiles, we smile. Let your contagious love be our guide as we share it with the world. In the name of the One God we pray

When Jesus smiles we smile
· What if we looked for ways to put a smile on our face each day?
· How do you think others will react to your smile?
· What if we were to live each day trying to make Jesus smile and others smile?
“We believe that a close encounter with Jesus of Nazareth can transform lives. “Our mission is to make Jesus smile.”
